Another stunner from Gerard Gilet. Those of you who have been following this site know how I hold Gerard's guitars in the highest regard.
This one was purchased by a Gilet enthusiast (who owned numerous Gilets), and simply put into careful storage. A change in circumstance has seen it released for sale, and we pounced on it.
This 000 size guitar (named the 'Hawkesbury' and sold new through River Music in Sydney's west to the previous owner) has stunning Mastergrade Blackwood back and sides and a AAA grade Sitka Spruce top with abalone rosette. The fingerboard is New Guinea Rosewood. As always with Gerard's guitars, this is a beautifully presented guitar with incredible craftsmanship he is known for.
Scale length is 25 11/32", neck width is 1 3/4" at the bone nut and 2 1/4" at the body join (14th fret). The body is 19 3/8" long, with the upper bout measuring 11 1/2" and the lower bout 15 1/4", and the depth at the tail block is 4 5/8". The guitar comes with a really nice tweed hard case.
I really, really like this guitar.
